Hello, all, and welcome back to my blog. I am very pleased to announce the start of a new project, one that I have wanted to do for a long time. Based on the book of the same name by Graeme Base, "The Legend of the Golden Snail" is a musical journey to the ends of the earth and back again, as wanna-be Grand Enchanter Wilbur searches for the fabled Golden Snailing Ship. The music will be divided into short chunks, with the intention of publishing them all together in a lengthier suite at the end.
The first of the chunks is the prologue, which is the in-story book that Wilbur reads. It details the legend of the snail, and how it was hidden away for hundreds of years and awaits a new master. A simple, magical-sounding horn line and celeste accompaniment underscore the opening exposition. This horn theme will be developed into far larger scope, so stay tuned!
Now for the listening recommendations. Attached is a link to Brian Tyler's relentless action extravaganza "Clutch then Shift" from Eagle Eye. Joining it is a link to James Newton Howard's intoxicatingly gorgeous suite from Maleficent.
That's all for today. Stay tuned for the next post, coming August 21 if all goes to plan!
