Welcome, all, back to my blog. There are a few topics of importance to discuss today, so let’s get into it, shall we?
As usual, the first topic of discussion is my newest release: “The Dark Portal Opens.” The dark portal in question, as can be read in the description of the YouTube video, opens to the underworld. Towering cities, a whole bunch of demons, lava lakes; you name it, we got it. As such, the music needed to be just as sinister and awe-inspiring as the landscape. The piece follows up a mysterious opening by exploding into massive chords belted out at max volume by the entire orchestra, mirroring the wrath on display in Don Davis’ incredible score for The Matrix. Next, a teaser for June 23rd’s upcoming premiere. This piece will be a lengthy suite summarizing the musical fabric of my next major project, which will be debuting over the next few weeks. I am very much looking forward to this project, and hope that you all will enjoy it when the time comes.
And finally, two listening recommendations. On the louder side of things, a link to the ferocious and aggressive 3rd movement of Michael Giacchino’s Jupiter Ascending suite can be found at the bottom of this post. Joining that link is one to a much softer piece, Robin Beanland’s gorgeous sea shanty “Becalmed” from the video game Sea of Thieves.
